Starry Fox Aviation - Ground School Courses
We offer two basic ground school courses. We can meet on weekends in 2 hour blocks, or meet the entire weekend for our accelerated program.

Q: Are ground school courses worth it?
A: How much time it takes to pass the exam will depend on how self-motivated you are to study on
your own. It may take 10-20 hours one-on-one with an instructor.

In addition to the course fee, the following are pilot supplies that will be required.
Such supplies may include:
- E6B Flight Computer (non-electronic version)
- Navigation Plotter
- Sectional Chart
- Appropriate Textbook (to be determined)
- Knowledge Test Guide (to be determined)
- Current FAR/AIM Edition
You will also be required to take the FAA Knowledge Exam. The CATS (Computer-Aided Testing Center)
Exam Fee is approximately $150.
Completion Requirements:
In order to complete the course, you must take a minimum of three practice exams
(www.exams4pilots.org)
and receive 90’s or higher on each one. You must select the appropriate number of questions for the exam taken and select all subject codes.
Both Private and Instrument Rating knowledge tests are 60 multiple choice questions.
You may also be asked to go over a select few free
interactive courses through AOPA’s website and show a certificate of completion. Access to
AOPA’s interactive courses will require an online account, which is free to create.
You will receive an FAA Knowledge Exam Endorsement upon completion of the course. You must send me
a copy of the score report. If you do not receive a passing grade, you will get another endorsement
upon correcting the test to 100% and reviewing incorrect topics.
Other Notes:
There may not be other interested students for a “classroom” style environment. If that is the case,
you will receive one-on-one time for the Ground School Course price instead of the hourly tutoring
rate. However, if additional students wish to join, they may have option to catch up privately, and
then be grouped together.
The course fee is non-refundable. All classes must be attended. Missed classes may be made up with
one-on-one tutoring at the tutoring rate.
If you cannot attend a class, it may be rescheduled with advanced notice with no additional fee.
